Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Portland, Oregon?
Kitchen remodeling costs depend on the size of your kitchen, the materials you select, and how much you want to change. Keeping the existing layout generally involves less work than moving walls, relocating plumbing, or changing appliance locations. EcoCraft helps you define your priorities and develop a project budget based on your home, design goals, and scope of work.
How long does a kitchen remodeling project take?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the remodel, design decisions, material availability, and any required permits. Planning and ordering materials are separate from the construction phase, when your kitchen may be unavailable. During project planning, discuss both the overall schedule and the expected time without a fully functioning kitchen.
Can you remodel a small kitchen without expanding it?
Yes. A small kitchen can become more functional through better cabinet configurations, improved lighting, appropriately sized appliances, and storage that makes use of available space. EcoCraft designs around how you cook, gather, and move through your kitchen to identify improvements that work within your existing footprint.
Can I stay in my home during a kitchen remodel?
Whether staying home is practical depends on the extent of construction and your household’s needs. You may need a temporary food preparation area while your sink, appliances, or countertops are unavailable. Discuss access, dust control, work hours, and anticipated utility interruptions during planning so you can decide what arrangements make sense for your family.
How does cost-plus pricing work for a kitchen remodel?
Under a cost-plus contract, pricing is based on project costs plus the contractor’s agreed fee, as defined in the contract. EcoCraft uses cost-plus contracts for kitchen remodeling projects. Before work begins, review what the estimate includes, how costs and fees are documented, and how selections or scope changes will affect your budget.
Can EcoCraft help with kitchen design and material selections?
Yes. EcoCraft’s design-build process includes kitchen layout development, material and finish selections, budget planning, and construction. Whether you want custom cabinetry, a larger island, updated countertops, or better lighting, our team helps coordinate these choices around your style, daily routines, and project priorities.
